Brass cup pulls fitted to grey kitchen cabinetry

Choosing cabinet & drawer pulls

Give your cabinetry a comfortable grip and a considered finishing detail. Start with the pull's profile, then check the mounting and dimensions before choosing a finish.

Choose the right pull profile

Cup and shell pulls bring a classic detail to drawers. Edge and lip pulls create a compact, understated line, while flush and recessed designs can suit joinery where a projecting handle is less practical. Check each product's intended use and mounting method.

Measure the fixing and cut-out

For pulls with two mounting holes, measure between the centres of the holes rather than using overall length. Flush and recessed styles may also need a cut-out: compare its width, height and depth with the product dimensions before preparing your cabinet front.

Coordinate finish and material

Use the Finish and Material filters to explore the current range. Repeat a finish across your pulls, cabinet knobs and handles for a coordinated room. Check the product specification for its base material and finish.

Plan the position and grip

Allow enough room for your fingers and for doors or drawers to open freely. Cup pulls are usually fitted horizontally to drawer fronts; other profiles have their own fitting requirements. Try the position first and follow the product's installation information before drilling.

Frequently asked questions

How do I measure the fixing-hole spacing?

Measure from the centre of one mounting hole to the centre of the other, then compare that measurement with the product's fixing dimensions. Overall pull length is a different measurement. Recessed and flush pulls may also need a correctly sized cut-out; check the product diagram before drilling or cutting.

What size pull should I choose?

Consider the drawer or door dimensions, the pull's overall size and the space available for your fingers. For replacements, start with the existing mounting holes or recess. Check all listed dimensions on the product page rather than relying on a similar-looking design.

Can I use pulls on doors as well as drawers?

That depends on the pull's profile and mounting method. Cup pulls are commonly used horizontally on drawers, while some edge, lip and recessed designs can suit doors or other joinery. Check the intended use and installation details for the specific product.

Do recessed pulls need a cut-out?

Some recessed and flush designs sit inside a prepared opening, while other compact pulls attach to a surface or edge. Check the mounting diagram and recess depth, and confirm that your cabinet front is thick enough before preparing an opening.

Are fixing screws included?

Included fixings and pack quantities vary between products. Check the product description or What's Included information and make sure the fixing length suits your cabinet thickness. Contact our team if you need help confirming the mounting requirements.
